Domingo: Dazed & Confused

Been dazed and confused for so long it's not true,
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you.
Lots of people talk and few of them know,
Soul of a woman was created below. yeah!
You hurt and abused tellin' all of your lies,
Run around sweet baby, lord how they hypnotize.
Sweet little baby, I don't know where you've been,
Gonna love you baby, here I come again.
Every day I work so hard
Bringin' home my hard earned pay
Try to love you baby, but you push me away.
Don't know where you're goin'
Only know just where you've been,
Sweet little baby, I want you again.
Been dazed and confused for so long, it's not true,
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you.
Take it easy baby, let them say what they will.
Will your tongue wag so much when I send you the bill?

Artigo sobre empresários e internet

Entrepeneurs, politics and the Web: mapping political activities in the web portals of the industry federation

Call for Papers

*"Deliberation, Collaboration, Mobilisation: Digital Media and Networked
Participation"*

As Manuel Castells observed in his seminal work "The Rise of the Network >Society", the network has become the dominant organising logic of society today. It has transformed our homes into hyperconnected nodes for communication, interaction, and information sharing. The traditional, hierarchical structure of local and national government is giving way to the complex and intricately interwoven architecture of the global economy. And the ubiquity of mobile media devices, WiFi networks, and networked infrastructure in urban space has replaced the archaic grid layout of the
city with a vast, sprawling network of cables and telecommunication lines.

The rise of digital networks has opened up new possibilities for public participation and engagement by revolutionising the way we communicate with our friends, communities, political institutions, and the physical environment. Earlier this year, political activists in Moldova used Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and other social networking technologies to stage public protests and storm government office buildings. The proliferation of citizen journalism websites, Massively-Multiplayer Online games, and user-generated advertising campaigns has made media organisations increasingly reliant on content created by a global network of users to thrive (and make a profit).

And in the United States, Barack Obama has made public participation, transparency, and civic engagement through online initiatives a cornerstone of his administration=92s approach to governance.

But while networked technologies enable public participation and mobilisation on a scale not possible in the pre-digital era, they also create tensions and provoke conflicts with potentially devastating consequences: The same technologies that allow us to organise social gatherings or political protests were used to coordinate the Mumbai terrorist attacks and the 2005 Cronulla race riots in Sydney. These technologies may establish spaces for public engagement and networked participation, but they can equally have undesirable effects and unexpected outcomes which challenge traditional structures of power and control, or reinforce others.

PLATFORM, an online graduate journal of media and communication, is currently seeking submissions from graduate students which critically examine policy initiatives, projects, online services, or interventions in the area of "Digital Media and Networked Participation".

Possible case studies might include:

- E-democracy and online deliberation (Lincoln Dahlberg, James S. Fishkin
and others)
- Networked mobilities (Castells, *Communication Power*; Rheingold, *Smart
Mobs*; Mitchell, *Me++*)
- Citizen journalism and collaborative news production (Axel Bruns, *Blogs,
Wikipedia and Second Life*)
- Crowdsourcing (Daren C. Brabham

- P2P and peer production (Michel Bauwens-- Participatory culture/Remix culture (Jenkins, *Convergence Culture*; Lessig, *Remix*)
- Viral marketing/User-generated advertising
- Networked cities and public interventions (*Open
11
* special issue; McQuire, *The Media City*)
- Urban design and participatory planning projects (Marcus Foth, *Urban
Informatics*)
- Locative media/Augmented space (see edited book *Space Time Play* by
Frederick von Borries *et al*)

Submission guidelines:

All submissions to PLATFORM must be from current graduate students (no more than 6 months after graduation) undertaking their Masters, Ph.D. or international equivalent. All eligible submissions will be sent for double-blind peer-review.

Domingo: Darlin you know..

Sempre começo a assistir essa famosa apresentação de BB King (no auge de sua forma) no Ralph Gleason's Jazz Casual pela segunda parte, apenas por causa de Darlin You Know I Love You e da expressão facial e do acompanhamento do organista, James Toney (SSB).

Darlin', darlin' you know I love you,
I love you, for myself
But you're gone, gone and left me for someone else

I think of you, think of you every morning
I dream of you, every night, and with love,
love to be with you always

When night began to fall,
I cry, cry alone
And I wish, maybe I can hold you in my arms tonight

Oh, darlin', darlin' you know I love you,
I love you, for myself
But you're gone, gone and left me for someone else

Domigueira: Four Women

My back is strong
Strong enough to take the pain
It's been inflicted again and again
What do they call me

My skin is yellow
My hair is long
Between two worlds

Well yours if you have some money to buy

* Quatrième de couverture : *
L'essai

just like witches at black masses //como bruxas numa missa negra
evil minds that plot destruction //mentes diabólica que tramam destruição
sorcerers of death's construction //feiticeiros da criação da morte
in the fields the bodies burning //Nos campos há corpos queimando
as the war machine keeps turning //enquanto a máquina de guerra continua agindo
death and hatred to mankind //Morte e ódio à humanidade
poisoning their brainwashed minds //envenenando suas mentes esvaziadas
Oh, Lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away //Políticos se escondem
they only started the war //eles apenas iniciam a guerra
Why should they go out to fight? //por que eles deveriam sair para lutar
They leave that role to the poor, yeah! //eles deixam isso para pobres

Time will tell on their power minds //o tempo vai mostrar a força de suas mentes
Making war just for fun //fazendo guerra só por diversão
Treating people just like pawns in chess //tratando as pessoas como peões num jogo de xadrez
Wait 'till their judgement day comes, yeah!

Now in darkness, world stops turning// Agora na escuridão o mundo para de girar
ashes where their bodies burning// cinzas onde os corpos queimavam
No more war pigs of the power// sem mais porcos de guerra no poder
Hand of God has stuck the hour// a mão de Deus marcou a hora
Day of judgement, God is calling //Dia do julgamento, Deus está chamando
on their knees, the war pigs crawling //Os porcos de guerra estão de joelhos, rastejando
Begging mercy for their sins // implorando perdão por seus pecados
Oh, Lord yeah!

Domingueira: Child in Time

Child In Time

Sweet child in time you'll see the line
The line that's drawn between the good and the bad
See the blind man shooting at the world
Bullets flying taking toll
If you've been bad, Lord I bet you have
And you've been hit by flying lead
You'd better close your eyes and bow your head
And wait for the ricochet
